Seeing Our Personal Story in the Parable of the Prodigal Son: A Lenten Journey Back to the Heart of God
The Lenten Recollection provided a meaningful space for reflection as we revisited the Parable of the Prodigal Son. More than a familiar Gospel story, it became a mirror of our own experiences—moments of choosing our own ways, drifting away, and realizing the need to return to what truly matters.
Through the recollection, we were reminded that God’s mercy is constant and unconditional. Like the father in the parable, God patiently waits for us, ready to welcome us back despite our shortcomings and mistakes. It emphasized that no distance is too far and no failure too great to prevent us from returning to Him.
The activity encouraged everyone to reflect on their personal journey of faith and recognize that coming back to God begins with humility and trust. As we continue this Lenten season, the recollection serves as a reminder that Lent is not only about sacrifice, but also about reconciliation, healing, and new beginnings found in God’s loving embrace.
